the Modern walking tour

The Modern Tour

The Modern Tour gets its name from the fact that it explores the part of central Madrid where you can see many examples of the efforts made by king Charles III during the 18th century to modernise and expand the city.

On this tour, you’ll learn about the history behind some of Madrid’s most recognisable landmarks from that era, including The Bank of Spain, Paseo del Prado and The Gate of Alcalá, as well as more recent additions such as the Metropolis building and the Palace of Cibeles.

You’ll also learn about some of Madrid’s best art museums - the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Bornemisza, and visit the house of Miguel de Cervantes, often referred to as the Shakespeare of the Spanish language.

Don’t forget to bring your cameras for this fun and photogenic tour of the city.
